On Tuesday, a significant GOP runoff will determine the Republican candidate for governor in Oklahoma. As current Governor Kevin Stitt reaches his term limit, the competition to succeed him is intense. Former state senator and budget secretary Mike Mazzei is up against state Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
President Trump has endorsed Mazzei, while expressing strong disapproval of Drummond. Trump criticized Drummond, labeling him a ‘fake Republican,’ and accused him of remaining silent on what he calls the ‘bogus impeachment’ of President Trump earlier.
In the primary held on June 16, Drummond emerged with a narrow lead of around 1,100 votes. However, the outcome of the runoff will likely influence the upcoming November election in this predominantly Republican state.
The polls are set to close at 8 p.m. EDT. For real-time updates, follow Decision Desk HQ’s live results.
