The Group F match between Tunisia and Japan in the 2026 World Cup is poised for an exciting encounter at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey. Tunisia is under new management with Herve Renard stepping in after the dismissal of Sabri Lamouchi following their dismal 5-1 defeat against Sweden. Japan aims to secure their place in the round of 32 with a victory over Tunisia.

Kick-off Information:
Kick-off is at 12am ET (9pm PT). The match will be broadcast on FS1 and Fubo in the U.S. A win for Japan could all but assure their progression to the next stage.

Japan’s Starting XI:
Hajime Moriyasu has opted for the following starting lineup:

Goalkeeper: Suzuki
Defenders: Itakura, Hiroki Ito, Tomiyasu
Midfielders: Tanaka, Nakamura, Junya Ito, Kamada, Sano, Doan
Forward: Ueda

The team has undergone four changes, indicating Moriyasu’s tactical adjustments in search of their first victory.

Tunisia’s Starting XI:
Herve Renard’s first lineup for Tunisia features:

Goalkeeper: Dahmen
Defenders: Abdi, Talbi, Rekik, Bronn, Valery
Midfielders: Mejbri, Skhiri (captain), Slimane, Tounekti
Forward: Saad

Renard has made three changes from the team that was heavily defeated by Sweden, including a replacement in goal.

“No tactics, no structure and no identity — just chaos.”

The challenges are significant for Tunisia, and Renard’s arrival provides hope for a quick organizational overhaul. Japan’s recent victories against top teams like Germany, Spain, and England have fans optimistic about their potential to reach beyond the round of 16, a stage where they’ve previously faltered.

Weather and Venue Conditions:
Monterrey’s climate has been less extreme today compared to yesterday’s high temperatures and thunderstorms. The 10pm local kick-off time is expected to assist in cooler conditions. Estadio BBVA’s scenic view with Cerro de la Silla mountain makes it a popular venue, hosting about 51,000 fans.
