U.S. Military Actions and Rising Tensions with Iran

The U.S. military launched another series of airstrikes against Iran on Monday, marking the tenth day of continuous operations as the conflict’s toll increases. The strikes commenced at 4 p.m. EDT, under President Trump’s directive, aiming to weaken Iranian military capabilities threatening commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. Central Command (Centcom).

Recent U.S. attacks have expanded, and Iran has responded by targeting American outposts in Gulf countries. Over the past three days, three U.S. service members have died, two in Jordan and one in Iraq. On Monday, the Kuwaiti armed forces reported that their air defense systems were actively intercepting Iranian munitions. The Pentagon confirmed that nearly 100 U.S. service members have been wounded since July 7, with 96 percent having returned to duty.

A new threat to global oil supplies emerged as the Houthis, an Iranian-backed group in Yemen, announced plans to impose a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine will testify before the Senate on Tuesday regarding the White House’s supplemental funding request. Their testimony follows the recent escalation with Iran, which resulted in the deaths of three service members.

Retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg expressed on Monday the need for U.S. ground troops in Iran and a new American negotiation team. On Fox News’s “America Reports,” he suggested changes to the current strategies and negotiators.
