The U.S. women’s basketball team showcased its dominance once more on Monday. After facing their most challenging FIBA World Cup test in two decades, they advanced to the quarterfinals in Berlin.
The team defeated Czechia decisively with a score of 105-64, concluding group play with an unblemished 3-0 record. Their next opponent in Thursday’s quarterfinals will be either Hungary or Japan. A match against Japan would reprise the Tokyo Olympic final where the U.S. triumphed 90-75.
On Sunday, the U.S faced a tough challenge from Italy, marking the closest contest during their ongoing 33-game win streak in FIBA World Cup play, a streak that began in 2006.
Breanna Stewart, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, led the American team on Monday. She scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and provided six assists. Remarkably, all 12 players on the roster scored during the game, with each player getting at least 13 minutes on the court.
