Usha Vance Responds to Criticism from Abdul El-Sayed

Second lady Usha Vance has provided a counter-response to recent criticisms by Democratic Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed. The details of her response were previewed in an interview on ‘Fox & Friends.’

The controversy started after the El-Sayed campaign targeted White House aide Natalie Harp a week following accusations aimed at Usha Vance. This occurred in the wake of President Donald Trump renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America amid heightened trade disputes with Canada.

The El-Sayed campaign posted on social media, questioning the rationale behind renaming landmarks. They used a modified image that edited the official White House page for first lady Melania Trump, swapping her name with Harp’s.

This post faced backlash from conservative voices. GOP communicator Matt Whitlock critiqued the effort as lackluster, noting the campaign’s unusual focus on others’ spouses. Similarly, journalist James David Dickson criticized the campaign’s strategy.

“This is just gross, right?” remarked Michigan Forward, a conservative advocacy group.

In response to the derogatory remarks, Usha Vance addressed the comments made by El-Sayed. He suggested that JD Vance, the vice president, might take Usha back in time to meet his grandfather, known as Pawpaw.

Political commentator Melik Abdul described this as an example of sexism and misogyny, adding it to recent actions by the campaign.

Currently working as a White House aide, Natalie Harp, a bone cancer survivor, credits Trump’s “right to try” mandate for saving her life. She has drawn media attention due to ongoing speculation about her association with Trump.

Fox News Digital requested comments from El-Sayed’s campaign. White House spokesperson Davis Ingle referred to El-Sayed’s political stance as radical, criticizing his previous remarks against American football and Thanksgiving.
