A recent image of President Trump prominently displayed at the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building highlights the ongoing controversies surrounding his administration. On May 18, the Justice Department revealed the establishment of a nearly $1.8 billion compensation fund. This fund aims to compensate Trump allies who claim they were unjustly targeted by the federal government during the previous administration. Andrew Harnik captured this moment for Getty Images.
In recent days, the Trump administration’s decisions have prompted scrutiny. These include the revelation of numerous stock transactions, exemptions from IRS audits, and the DOJ’s substantial anti-weaponization fund. Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers are questioning these actions.
Michael Waldman, who leads the Brennan Center for Justice, a non-partisan legal think tank, describes these moves as “corruption in plain sight.”
