Water Outage Causes Disruptions at Disneyland

On Tuesday, a citywide water pressure outage disrupted operations at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The incident led to the temporary closure of restrooms and restaurants across the park. Nearby businesses and Angel Stadium were also affected starting around 6 p.m. PDT.

A Disneyland official confirmed the disruption, stating that staff quickly worked to assist guests during the outage. The cause involved technical issues with several groundwater wells, as explained by Anaheim city officials. Approximately 75% of Anaheim’s water originates from these wells, with the remaining 25% drawn from the Colorado River. Four wells were specifically impacted, according to multiple sources.

The issue was resolved by around 8 p.m. local time, with a city spokesperson assuring there was no ongoing concern. Despite the swift resolution, the situation caught many Disneyland visitors by surprise.

“It was a little chaotic, but they handled it the best they could,”

shared Tiffany Christensen, a guest at Disneyland, with local outlet KTLA. Guests encountered blocked access to restrooms during the outage. Some expressed understanding, acknowledging it was beyond Disneyland’s control, while others were frustrated by the inconvenience.

The restroom closures prompted discussions on a Disneyland subreddit. One user noted, “It was a little chaotic, but they handled it the best they could.” Another person mentioned their cousin reported closures of all restaurants and restrooms, predicting the situation could worsen quickly.

Though the water disruption was brief, not all guests were satisfied. One visitor remarked about considering a refund due to the inconvenience.

The Anaheim disruption occurred weeks following another water shortage in California, which closed public restrooms on Highway 101 near the Gaviota Roadside Rest Areas. These closures are expected to remain until October 1.
