Chicago White Sox third baseman, Miguel Vargas, expressed his desire for All-Star status, acknowledging it as a personal milestone. While discussing his ambitions, Vargas emphasized the team’s overall goals, stating, “I want to focus and end this half really strong.”
As the team remains competitive, Vargas has contributed significantly, fostering conversation about possible All-Star recognition. The rosters for the All-Star event will be made public on Saturday night, with the game scheduled for July 14 in Philadelphia. Recently, the Sox celebrated multiple All-Star selections in 2022, including Tim Anderson and Liam Hendriks at Dodger Stadium.
This year, several Sox players are in contention. Vargas aims to become the first Sox third baseman named to the All-Star team since Joe Crede in 2008. Manager Will Venable commended Vargas’s consistency and offseason efforts, noting, “We saw it in flashes last year; now he maintains it through stretches.” Vargas ranks first among major-league third basemen in runs, tied for second in home runs, and holds strong standings in other statistics.
Vargas remains committed to daily consistency and enjoyment, stating, “I want to be the best version of myself each day.” The positive energy and camaraderie within the clubhouse have bolstered his focus on enjoying the game.

Pitcher Davis Martin is another potential All-Star. Although recently challenged against the Cleveland Guardians, Martin boasts a 9-3 record with a 3.08 ERA. Venable supports Martin’s candidacy, noting his reliability and high ranks in pitching categories.
Martin ties for first in the American League wins and holds seventh place in ERA rankings. Venable highlighted Martin’s consistency, mentioning minor setbacks but overall performance.

Colson Montgomery, excelling as a shortstop, leads with 21 home runs among major-league players. He ranks well in RBIs and slugging percentage. Another player, Munetaka Murakami, initially seemed assured of selection but faces health challenges due to a hamstring strain.
Manager Will Venable expressed hope for Murakami’s return to health, prioritizing team needs. Despite the allure of the All-Star Game, Venable stressed health before participation, noting Murakami’s performance merit.
Venable remains enthusiastic about potential All-Star outcomes, anticipating both pride and disappointment as selections are finalized. The Sox aim for maximum representation while bracing for possible surprises.
