William Faber always looked forward to his birthday on September 11 like any child. However, when he grasped the gravity of the day around age ten, he made a conscious decision to dedicate the anniversary of his birth to serving others rather than reveling in personal celebration.
Featured prominently in Fox Nation’s new special, Faber, along with others born on September 11, 2001, is showcased as they approach their 25th birthdays. On September 11, 2001, approximately 13,000 babies were born across the United States.
The significance of the day was not lost on Faber. When his parents explained the events of 9/11 to him, they had initially shielded him from its severity to protect his childhood joy. Upon turning ten, however, the true story was shared. Since then, Faber has refrained from celebrating on that day.
Driven by the tragedy that affected a family friend and countless others, Faber opts to volunteer instead. His birthday activities focus on community service, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the attack.
“I’d rather not celebrate,” Faber stated. “I want to volunteer and give back to the community as a whole.”
