Wind Gust Causes Poolside Accident at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel
On Saturday evening, a sudden and powerful wind gust caused a metal cabana frame to collapse in the pool area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The incident took place at the DAER Club, an outdoor rooftop venue, and resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to five people.
The wind struck the venue’s outdoor section, leading to a partial collapse of the cabana structure. Videos circulated online show guests and staff rushing to assist those trapped, lifting parts of the metal frame until first responders arrived. The injured individuals were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses described the chaos, with one noting they were standing near the area moments before the incident unfolded but moved away just in time. They expressed shock at narrowly avoiding the collapse.
This recent accident highlights the risks posed by strong winds, echoing another incident from June 2025 at Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue Beach in New Jersey. During that event, a lifeguard was injured when a beach umbrella went airborne and pierced her shoulder. The lifeguard was conscious and taken to the hospital promptly.
These occurrences underline the importance of properly securing outdoor structures, especially in windy conditions. Such precautions are vital at beaches, pool areas, and open-air recreational sites. Reports emphasize the necessity of vigilance during adverse weather to prevent similar accidents.
