Zendaya began her career as a Disney star and has become a fixture in popular films and television shows. Born on September 1, 1996, in Oakland, California, her parents are Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Coleman. She is the youngest of six siblings. Her siblings include three older sisters, Kaylee, Katianna, and Annabelle, and two older brothers, Austin and Julien, all half-siblings from her father’s previous relationship.
Zendaya embarked on her career as a model at an early age. Her breakthrough TV role came in 2010 when she portrayed Rocky Blue on Disney Channel’s “Shake it Up,” alongside Bella Thorne. She continued with Disney, appearing in television shows and movies like “Frenemies” in 2012, “Zapped” in 2014, and “K.C. Undercover” from 2015 to 2018. Eventually, she moved beyond Disney roles into broader acting opportunities.
Among her prominent roles, Zendaya plays Michelle Jones (MJ) in “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Spider-Man: Far from Home,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” These films feature her as Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) love interest. Additionally, she has starred in films such as “The Greatest Showman,” “Dune,” and “Malcolm & Marie.” Beyond movies, Zendaya continues to work in television, earning acclaim for her role as Rue in “Euphoria,” which earned her an Emmy Award in 2020.
While Zendaya has typically kept her romantic life private, she has been linked to Trevor Jackson, Odell Beckham Jr., and “Euphoria” co-star Jacob Elordi in the past. Recently, she has been more open about her relationship with “Spider-Man” co-star Tom Holland. Dating rumors circulated for some time, and in July 2021, photos of them kissing in a car emerged. Since then, they have shared pictures on Instagram and made several public appearances together.
