Coast Guard Helicopter Crash in Alaska: Four Injured

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed during a training flight in southeast Alaska, injuring all four crew members on board, according to officials. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter went down near Sitka, Alaska, in a sparsely populated region close to Harbor Mountain.

The Arctic District command center received a report of the crash shortly after 10 a.m., stated the Coast Guard in a press release. Rescue teams from Sitka Fire and Rescue reached the site at around 11 a.m. They transported the injured crew to Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center for medical attention.

‘We are incredibly relieved our crew members survived with only minor injuries,’ said Rear Adm. Bob Little, commander of the Coast Guard’s Arctic District.

All members received treatment at Mt. Edgecumbe Medical Center, and no fatalities were linked to the crash.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, as investigations continue. This incident adds to a series of recent aircraft collisions. In Laredo, Texas, a business jet crashed on a highway on Tuesday night, resulting in one fatality. Earlier in the month, a B-52 crashed during a test flight at Edwards Air Force Base, California, claiming eight lives. Additionally, a plane crash in Missouri during a skydiving event led to the deaths of 12 individuals.
