Since 2009, the Dallas Cowboys have called AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, their home ground. For over ten years, the team’s headquarters and training facility have been located at The Star in Frisco, roughly 36 miles from the stadium.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer, in his second year with the team, resides in McKinney, Texas. This location is an approximately 30-minute drive from the team facility. To reduce his daily commute, Schottenheimer has decided to sell his expansive McKinney home and find a property nearer to the team facility.
Carrie Himel, the listing agent for Schottenheimer’s current property, highlighted that proximity to work influenced the NFL coach’s decision to relocate. “Time is crucial, especially at his professional level,” Himel informed The Dallas Morning News.
“It really is just time being closer to work, and every minute counts, when you’re at that level, for him,” said Carrie Himel.
The 5,700-square-foot residence was listed for $3.8 million as of mid-April, noted on Zillow. The Collin County Appraisal District valued the property for tax purposes at nearly $2 million.
Himel mentioned that the property swiftly attracted a buyer due to its unique allure. “It’s a private, serene oasis,” she noted. “The property needed a special buyer, and we were fortunate to find one quickly.” McKinney is located about 17 miles from The Star, but Schottenheimer’s exact plans for his next home remain unclear.
Built in 2021, the home includes four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, a movie room, and an infinity-edge pool, per the listing. The garage accommodates three vehicles.
In January 2025, Schottenheimer advanced from defensive coordinator to head coach following the departure of Mike McCarthy. During a meeting in October, Schottenheimer shared an unusual incident involving an owl entering his home through an open sliding door.
“During a game-planning meeting before the Arizona Cardinals matchup, an owl flew into our home. Animal control was contacted to remove the bird,” Schottenheimer recalled.
The Cowboys concluded Schottenheimer’s inaugural year with a 7-9-1 record, missing playoff qualification.
