Cruise Line Fines Guests for Bringing Buffet Food to Cabins
Costa Cruises, part of Carnival Corporation, has alerted guests about potential fines for bringing buffet food into their cabins. According to the cruise blog Crew Center, passengers might face a €60 cleaning fee, nearly $70, for this action.
The cruise line emphasizes guest safety and well-being as their top priority. A spokesperson stated that the communication during certain sailings aims to deter this behavior and falls in line with existing policies. Room service staff, trained in sanitation, are the only ones allowed to deliver food to cabins. Guests are encouraged to consume food in designated dining areas.
Passenger reactions on social media were mixed. Some supported the policy, pointing out the annoyance of dirty dishes left in hallways. Others challenged the rule, preferring the convenience of eating in their own space.
Costa Cruises operates from Genoa, Italy, offering voyages across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South America. While the policy aims to ensure a high-quality experience, it sparked debate among travelers.
The cruise line remains committed to maintaining sanitation standards and guest enjoyment throughout its operations.
