Candy Thompson, an octogenarian who experienced a transformative journey from feminism back to Christianity, shared her story with Fox News Digital. She expressed that feminism “failed” her after leaving her Christian faith.
“The feminists pitted women against men and against having children,” Thompson observed. “It belittled our roles in the home, as mothers, and as women in a marriage.” Her journey involved questioning her faith and eventually realizing that these ideas affected her deeply.
“When it pitted us against God even… that led to what happened to me,” Thompson mentioned, reflecting on the impact of these beliefs.
Thompson’s experiences include attending the University of North Carolina in the 1960s. She learned about feminism at college, which influenced her away from Christian values. “It sounded good because it was about equality,” Thompson recalled.
She faced a traumatic event between her junior and senior year—a miscarriage in a college dorm. “Instead of going back to God… I continued with my actions,” she explained, noting how her life began to unravel.
During her first marriage, Thompson had three abortions and later divorced her husband. Now, she acknowledges those pregnancies through acknowledgment-of-life certificates.
Reflecting on her experiences, Thompson noted, “Anger was a consequence, and I didn’t comprehend my true purpose until returning to my faith.” Her insights reveal complexities in understanding individual roles.
She expressed concern for young women today, claiming that feminism created distrust toward men. “They want to experience love but fear broken hearts,” she said, highlighting a longing for lasting relationships.
Thompson hosts young people at home, observing that they seek identity and crave marital relationships. “They don’t know how to achieve these desires; nobody guides them,” Thompson revealed, describing a sense of loss among women.
Thompson’s story underlines her journey through feminism, personal challenges, and eventual return to Christian faith, providing insights into her perspectives on identity and relationships.
