Trump Launches Inquiry into Allegations Against Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook

On Friday, he announced the creation of a ‘committee of inquiry’ to examine claims that Cook provided false information on mortgage applications. This development was detailed in a written memo from Trump.

The committee will conduct a hearing at the White House on November 5. Trump specified that Cook must attend this hearing to address the committee’s questions. This action comes on the heels of a Supreme Court decision in June. The court ruled that Cook could retain her position after Trump’s previous attempts to dismiss her last year. In its decision, the court emphasized that Cook was entitled to receive notice of the allegations and a chance to respond.

Lisa Cook has consistently denied any misconduct and has not faced criminal charges related to the allegations.
