Darth Vader’s Lightsaber from ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ Heads to Auction

The lightsaber used by Darth Vader during his iconic duel with Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back is set to go up for auction. This famous Star Wars prop, featured in the memorable Cloud City battle where Vader reveals to Skywalker, “I am your father,” will be part of the Ultimate Star Wars Auction. Heritage Auctions will conduct the event on November 12, and the lightsaber is expected to bring in at least $1 million.

A collection of more than two dozen lightsaber props will be included in the auction. Highlights include those used by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, each projected to sell for a minimum of $10,000.

The auction also features an EE-3 carbine blaster, which the villain Boba Fett wielded throughout the film The Empire Strikes Back. This prop is anticipated to surpass the $100,000 mark in sales.

Another notable item is the Hero Rebel DH-17 Pistol, used by Rebel Alliance troops in the same film, expected to fetch more than $10,000. Additionally, a Yoda puppet hand, operated by Frank Oz in Yoda’s original appearance, and C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels’ personal, signed third-draft screenplay for the 1977 Star Wars offer unique keepsakes for fans.

The collection extends to a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and a miniature snowspeeder previously owned by Carrie Fisher. The snowspeeder, which was utilized during filming, could sell for over $10,000.

Previously, a lightsaber accompanied by Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from The Empire Strikes Back reached a record $3.75 million at auction, marking the highest price attained for any Star Wars film prop, as reported by the auction house.
