Kai Trump, a freshman at the University of Miami, faces unexpected challenges on the golf course. She recently announced her successful surgery to fix a wrist injury she sustained in September. As a member of the Hurricanes’ women’s golf team, Trump’s injury affected her planned start to college golf.
On Instagram, she shared an image from a hospital bed, her arm in a sling and cast, confirming that the procedure took place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. She stressed the decision was made with her long-term health and future in golf in mind. ‘I had hoped to avoid surgery, but after consulting my family, coaches, and staff, I knew it was right for my health and future in the game I love,’ Trump wrote. ‘Sometimes the journey takes an unexpected turn, and I’m embracing it with patience and determination.’
Prior to this, Trump experienced wrist issues. In January, she underwent surgery on her left wrist to address injuries to tissues involved in stabilizing her ECU tendon and her fibrocartilage complex. Recently, she managed to participate in an event in Muncie, Indiana, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to golf.
Though exact recovery timelines weren’t shared, she expressed gratitude to Dr. Michelle G. Carlson, a specialist in hand and upper extremity injuries, along with her support system, including family and teammates. ‘Recovery will take time, but I’m surrounded by people who lift me up and remind me that challenges are chances to grow,’ she stated. Having supportive people is vital, and she feels fortunate for their encouragement.
Trump looks forward to returning to the sport and rejoining her team. She remains optimistic, focusing on healing and trusting the recovery process. ‘I’ll be back on the golf course with my team, stronger and more thankful than ever,’ she remarked with enthusiasm.
