Paul George made a stunning entrance with the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, scoring 31 points in just three quarters against the Detroit Pistons. George’s impressive display set a new all-time record for the most points in a debut game with the Celtics, surpassing Kristaps Porzingis’s previous record of 30 points set in 2023.
At 36, George is embarking on his 17th season in the NBA. This past offseason, he joined the Celtics as part of a major trade deal that saw Jaylen Brown move to the Philadelphia 76ers. George showcased his skillset by making six out of eight three-point attempts in the first three quarters. Such performance could establish him as an ideal partner to standout forward Jayson Tatum.
During the game, George filled the scoring gap left by Tatum, who was unable to connect on any of his seven attempts from the three-point range. Though George amassed 38 points, the Celtics were defeated by the Pistons with a final score of 121-113.
