Apple customers have several months to claim part of a $250 million settlement regarding certain Siri features that were not provided as promoted by Apple Intelligence. The settlement, resulting from Landsheft v. Apple Inc., pertains to eligible U.S. customers who bought the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16-series devices between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Claims should be submitted online or postmarked by December 21, 2025, to be eligible.
Customers with valid claims may receive approximately $25 for each qualifying device, but the actual amount depends on the total number of valid claims. The settlement allows for a maximum of $95 per device. Although Apple denied the allegations, the settlement relates to the company’s promotion of AI capabilities.
Why the Allegations Arose
The lawsuit claimed that customers suffered when certain Apple Intelligence features were not available as expected. In June 2024, Apple showcased an improved Siri capable of understanding user context and recognizing on-screen information. Yet, some Siri features faced delays, leading Apple to agree to a $250 million settlement without admitting wrongdoing.
Who Can File a Claim?
Eligible customers are U.S. residents who purchased a qualifying device for personal use, not for resale, between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Eligible devices include:
- iPhone 15 Pro
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16e
- iPhone 16 Plus
- iPhone 16 Pro
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
Customers must confirm they expected to receive a Siri Apple Intelligence feature that was not delivered. Kevin Thompson, CEO of 9i Capital Group, said that the issue stemmed from Apple’s advertising of devices that failed to meet expectations.
How to Claim Your Settlement
Eligible customers can submit a claim via the official Smartphone AI Settlement website. You will need your device’s serial number or Apple Account email for verification. If you received a settlement notice, use the Claim ID and PIN from it, though submitting without these is possible as well.
Michael Ryan, founder of MichaelRyanMoney.com, advised, “Check the official settlement website and file directly. Don’t assume the advertised payout is guaranteed. Avoid paying someone to submit your claim.” Payment options include PayPal, Venmo, direct deposit, or a mailed check. Claims must be filed by December 21.
Potential Settlement Amounts
Eligible customers might receive about $25 per device, but the final amount depends on the number of valid claims. It can increase to $95 or decrease below the initial estimate. Ryan noted, “AI has become a selling point before some promised features are ready. Companies may need to be more careful about promises and demos.”
Details of the Apple Lawsuit
The lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California accused Apple of failing to deliver certain features for the qualifying phones. Apple denies the allegations and the settlement doesn’t imply guilt. According to the official settlement website, the proposed resolution does not acknowledge any wrongdoing by Apple.
Next Steps
Submitting a claim doesn’t mean instant receipt of funds post-December 21. Court approval of the settlement is pending, with a final hearing on February 24, 2027. Kevin Thompson remarked that settlements often result in minor penalties for tech giants. “Silicon Valley thrives on overpromising and underdelivering, with market capital as cover,” he said.
