Gurinder Gill Charged with Murder after Wife’s Remains Found

Authorities have charged Gurinder Gill, 28, with the murder of his wife, Jasmine Gill, following the discovery of her burned remains buried in the mountains of El Dorado County, California. Jasmine Gill, a 30-year-old nurse and mother from India, had been missing since September.

The investigation began when Jasmine was reported missing on October 4 by her cousin. Gurinder Gill allegedly misled law enforcement by claiming that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested Jasmine when she went out to collect the mail at their Sacramento home. However, detectives found several inconsistencies in his statements regarding her disappearance.

“Detectives contacted ICE, which confirmed that no enforcement activity had occurred at the residence,” stated Sgt. Edward Igoe from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Days before her cousin reported her missing, authorities discovered burned and buried remains in El Dorado County, 70 miles from Sacramento. These remains were identified as Jasmine’s.

Arrest and Investigation

The police arrested Gurinder Gill on October 14. They also carried out search warrants at two homes connected to him. He remains in custody without bail due to the severity of the charges.

The couple was undergoing a divorce and dealing with a child custody dispute at the time of Jasmine’s disappearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

A GoFundMe campaign aimed at returning Jasmine Gill’s remains to her family in India and supporting her son’s upbringing has raised over $21,000. Jasmine became a registered nurse inspired by her mother, who still resides in India. The campaign highlights Jasmine’s struggles for safety and a new start for her and her baby.

“She was fighting for a better future for herself and her baby,” the campaign reads, underscoring the tragic loss of a woman striving to protect her child.
