Simeon sophomore wide receiver Jalonny Billingsley excels on the field and beyond. As an aspiring actor with a passion for photography, Billingsley embraces any stage. He is also a promising Division I football prospect. He remarked, “When I’m out there on the field, it’s like a stage and I’m acting, except everything is real. It’s all or nothing.”
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound athlete impressed on Saturday by scoring a 24-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Aki King. This key play contributed to the Wolverines’ 36-11 win over Lindblom in the opening round of the Class 6A playoffs at Stagg Stadium in Chicago. King also connected with senior wide receiver Elijah Welch for a 52-yard touchdown, pushing Simeon to a 5-5 record. They are set to face fifth-seeded Oak Lawn (7-2) in the next round.
For Lindblom, Junior safety Justice Howell made a highlight with his 101-yard interception return, although the team ended their season with a 5-5 record. Billingsley continued his strong performance with four catches totaling 74 yards.
Billingsley, already attracting college attention, has received offers from teams like Kentucky and Miami. Quarterback Aki King expressed trust in his teammate, saying, “We’ve been playing together for seven years now ever since youth football, and I know he’s my guy and I can always count on him. Whenever anything breaks down, I know that he can bail me out.”
