A Florida woman escaped a harrowing three-week kidnapping ordeal after being held captive by her ex-boyfriend. The woman leaped from a California balcony to flee her captor, authorities revealed on Thursday.
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno reported that 41-year-old Floyd Stuck was arrested on various charges, such as kidnapping, aggravated stalking, and unlawfully installing a tracking device.
Start of a Nightmare
The investigation began when the victim informed the Lee County Sheriff’s Office of Stuck’s attempt to place a tracking device on her vehicle. Responding deputies discovered a months-long nightmare.
Stuck had convinced the victim to join him on a trip to New York, claiming it was to visit family. However, once they left on April 20, he acted erratically and changed their plans. He threatened the victim’s family to ensure her compliance.
Terrifying Journey
Stuck took the victim’s phone and wallet, driving her through several states including Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Nevada. He allegedly threatened to kill her and physically assaulted her throughout the trip.
In San Diego, Stuck bound the victim with zip ties and duct tape, holding a knife to her throat. Despite her fear and helplessness, she found the strength to escape. She jumped from a balcony and sought refuge in a neighboring home, where she contacted police.
Manhunt for the Abductor
After the victim’s escape, authorities launched a massive search for Stuck. He fled and continued to harass the victim, ultimately getting captured in Collier County following a vehicle and foot chase.
A Dangerous Offender
Described as one of the most dangerous individuals their agency has faced, Stuck was already out on bond in a separate fraud case at the time of his arrest. His criminal history includes charges of armed robbery, fraud, and arson.
Authorities are considering additional charges across multiple states, as the investigation remains ongoing.
As Sheriff Marceno stated, “The world’s a better place when he’s off the streets.”
