Incumbent Representative Susie Lee, D-Nev., secured victory in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District Democratic primary. Lee’s district includes the southern Las Vegas metro area and sparsely populated regions like Searchlight, the late Sen. Harry Reid’s hometown. This area is one of the West’s competitive swing districts, rated D+1 by the Cook Political Report.
Considered among the 10 most bipartisan members of Congress by Georgetown University’s Lugar Center, Lee faced opponents James Lally, Terrill Robinson, and Brandon West in the primary. Although noted for her bipartisanship, Republicans criticized her stance against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a legislation that reportedly allocated significant funds for Nevada’s rural areas.
Lee’s campaign received backing from organizations like AIPAC and corporations such as Boeing, as reported by The Center Square. Her opponent, Lally, a cardiologist, disputed her bipartisan reputation, implying that she cannot satisfy Republican voters and Trump supporters.
The “No Tax On Tips” campaign from Trump’s supporters has resonated with Republicans, particularly in this district with many tipped workers near the Las Vegas Strip. Robinson, a Marine Corps veteran and former aide to Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev., emphasized his concern about corporate influence and political self-interest in his campaign statement.
West, having worked various jobs including positions at Carl’s Jr., TSA, and SEIU, reflected on his diverse work experiences shaping his understanding of people. He highlighted his main priority, if elected, as ending U.S. aid to Israel, along with a desire to decommission ICE.
Lee recently faced criticism for a deleted expletive-filled rant against Trump on social media. Her language sparked controversy, though she defended her reaction as a response to perceived attacks on constitutional principles.
