In 1995, Michael Jordan made headlines with his simple statement, “I’m back.” Fast forward to now, Aaron Donald used a different approach to announce his return to the NFL. He shared a video on Instagram to declare that he is rejoining the Los Angeles Rams. Erica Donald, his wife, jokingly responded, “I let him out the house y’all.”
After retiring in 2024 and 2025, Donald, now 35, is set to return to the Rams to continue his decade-long career. He announced, “We back,” echoing Jordan’s iconic announcement. Donald agreed to a one-year contract worth $20 million, potentially rising to $30 million for 2026, according to sources.
Known for his rigorous training regimen, Donald has been preparing intensely. He attended two official tryouts with the Rams and has been working out twice daily with personal trainers, complemented by a new diet plan. Donald aims to regain his form, seeking to match the level that made him a three-time Defensive Player of the Year and a nine-time All Pro.
Donald has two major goals: play at his previous elite level and win the Super Bowl. The Rams are striving for success in the upcoming season with the addition of Myles Garrett, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. This pairing could create a formidable defensive line, given their five combined Defensive Player of the Year awards.
In June, the Rams also welcomed cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, further strengthening their defense. Both McDuffie and Watson previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs, with McDuffie being recognized as a Pro Bowl-caliber player. Adding these players was a significant move for the Rams, who also have quarterback Matthew Stafford, the reigning NFL MVP.
The Rams are determined to achieve a Super Bowl victory after falling short against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game last season. Their offseason moves indicate a strong commitment to improving their chances of winning it all.
