The Philadelphia Eagles need to publicly address Jalen Hurts’ health situation. Current leaks and statements are failing to clear up the confusion. This is leading to questions about whether medical malpractice occurred.
Hurts sustained an injury to his left calf during the game against the Rams on October 4. He began treatment on October 8. An ultrasound in London on October 10 found a superficial blood clot. Doctors permitted him to play in the match against Jacksonville in London on October 11. He practiced fully on October 14 in preparation for the game against the Panthers. That evening, another ultrasound indicated movement in the blood clot.
On October 15, the Eagles announced Hurts would miss the Panthers game. They cited the need to determine an appropriate treatment plan. The team prioritized his health but didn’t specify his return timing. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Eagles didn’t initially plan to place Hurts on injured reserve. This changed later that day, with reports confirming Hurts would miss significant playtime.
“Jalen Hurts will reportedly miss the rest of the NFL season due to blood clots found in his lungs.”
On Monday, updated medical evaluations revealed deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. Hurts is now on blood thinners and, according to forecasts, should not face long-term effects.
Reports noted that Hurts had been advised not to sleep after the blood clot detection in London. Due to ongoing evaluations, he remained awake for about 36 hours before the game against the Jaguars. Lynn later clarified that Hurts did get some rest, and arrangements were made by the Eagles to accommodate him at the stadium.
Different timelines have emerged. Clark reported blood clots were found in Hurts’ lungs by Friday, prior to ESPN’s report on the Eagles’ decisions.
There’s a lot of confusion about what exactly transpired. The Eagles need to directly address these issues in a press conference. Former NFL player Michael Robinson speculated Hurts might be faking the condition. This scenario, along with differing medical opinions, has sparked debate. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni remains at the forefront, yet official clarity remains absent.
The situation has led to speculation about potential negligence in medical management. Questions arise if the Eagles prioritized their game over Hurts’ health. While these allegations are not verified, transparency is needed. A clear timeline without revealing private medical details would help.
Conflicting reports have only fueled more questions than answers. The situation puts Hurts, the Eagles, and public perception in a difficult position.
