Alain Prost Injured in Home Robbery
According to a recent report from Switzerland, four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost was injured during a raid on his home by masked intruders. The incident occurred in Nyon, located about 25 kilometers north of Geneva, around 8:30 a.m. local time. The Swiss publication Blick revealed that the legendary racer’s home was the scene of the crime.
While police have not officially named the victims, they confirmed the occurrence of a robbery targeting a family. “Several masked individuals entered the house. Once inside, they threatened the occupants and slightly injured one family member in the head, under circumstances that are still being investigated,” police officials stated in a report cited by BBC Sport. The attackers reportedly forced another family member to open a safe before fleeing.
Authorities from Switzerland and France are currently collaborating to track down the offenders. Alain Prost, a prominent figure in Formula 1 history, raced from 1980 to 1993. He was part of prestigious teams including McLaren, Renault, Ferrari, and Williams. During his career, Prost secured the World Drivers’ Championships in 1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993. He shares the record of four championships with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, ranking behind Juan Manuel Fangio with five championships and Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher, who each have seven.
Prost’s remarkable tenure included fierce competition with Ayrton Senna while at McLaren in the late 1980s. After retiring, Prost worked in broadcasting, managed his own team called Prost Grand Prix, and served as an advisor to the Alpine Formula 1 team until 2022.
