Antioch Reaches State Final with Semifinal Victory Over Dunlap

In a thrilling Class 3A state semifinal held at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, Antioch’s freshman left fielder, Rylee Dunlavy, showcased her skills, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and scoring twice. The Sequoits topped Dunlap with a decisive performance on Friday.
Antioch kicked off the first inning with a dominant four-run display, setting the tone for the match. The team, boasting an impressive record of 33-3, will face either Chatham Glenwood, with a 29-2 record, or Fenwick, standing at 22-11, in the state championship game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. This marks Antioch’s third trip to the state final in the past four years.
Freshman first baseman Kylie Pfleeger contributed significantly with a triple that brought in two more runs. Freshman ace Pearl Wenzel maintained control from the mound, allowing just one run across six hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out two, enhancing her record to 16-0.
Senior players also made substantial contributions. Designated player Kailyn Bockwoldt recorded two hits and an RBI, while senior catcher Addie Webb hit a two-run single, further solidifying Antioch’s lead.
