The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark persevered through illness during Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Dream. Despite feeling unwell at halftime, Clark delivered a strong performance in the second half, helping her team secure an 83-71 victory at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Clark shared with reporters post-game that she experienced severe nausea during the break. I haven’t puked that much in a really long time,
she remarked via ESPN. Fortunately, she felt lighter and more energetic after, contributing significantly in the second half. Obviously, I’m losing my voice a little bit. But I’ll be good,
Clark stated.
The game had notable achievements for Clark; she finished with 17 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. In doing so, she matched her previous WNBA record, becoming the fastest player to achieve 150 points and 50 assists in a season, a feat she also accomplished the prior season.
The Fever’s win was crucial, snapping a two-game losing streak and improving their record to 5-4. A video of Clark and head coach Stephanie White in a heated sideline exchange recently went viral, drawing attention to the team’s dynamics.
Clark emphasized the importance of self-reflection, crediting it for her and her team’s improvement. A lot of people have called and asked me how I am, and I said, ‘What do you mean? I’m great,’
she said. She added that everyone took the time to look in the mirror and find ways to improve.
Looking ahead, the Fever aim to maintain their momentum in their upcoming game against the New York Liberty on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. Despite her recent illness, Clark remains optimistic about her recovery and performance.
