Archaeological Discovery in Tucson: A Surprising Twist in a Missing Person Case
Earlier this month, Alec Wysopal made a significant discovery while searching through the challenging trails of Tucson, Arizona. Wysopal, a livestreamer, has been part of a small group taking independent action to solve the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. Guthrie is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, host of the ‘Today’ show. Her disappearance in February generated wide attention across the nation.
On a hot day, Wysopal noticed something unusual on a dry riverbank near Nancy Guthrie’s home. Documenting his journey with his cellphone and geared with protective gaiters, he surveyed the area cautiously. ‘Oh, what is that?’ he questioned aloud to his audience on his YouTube channel, pointing out what appeared to be a bone.
The moment was intense. His discovery prompted him to immediately call 911. The news quickly circulated on social media, leading many true crime enthusiasts to speculate that a breakthrough had occurred in the case of the missing 84-year-old.
However, the narrative shifted once local authorities arrived at the scene. They released a statement through a Tucson police spokesperson, clarifying, ‘This will be a prehistoric anthropological investigation.’ Emphasizing that the inquiry was not part of a criminal investigation.
This incident highlights the complex implications when non-professionals engage in investigative efforts. It serves as a reminder of the challenges and potential misdirections that can arise without proper expertise in such situations.
