Country singer Ashley Cooke recently revealed her experience with a rare and potentially life-threatening heart condition, Brugada syndrome. In a discussion with Fox News Digital, Cooke shared the profound impact of this diagnosis as she prepares for her Baby Blues World Tour.
Brugada syndrome is a genetic disorder that can lead to severe cardiac rhythms and sudden cardiac arrest. Cooke, age 29, described the diagnosis as ‘scary’ due to the absence of noticeable symptoms.
You just have to go get tested for it and hope for the best. It’s like young, healthy people that actually are the ones that end up passing away from it just out of nowhere. So, it’s a little scary.
Cooke expressed that living with the fear of sudden cardiac arrest feels like being under a constant cloud of anxiety. Yet, she finds solace in advice from her cousin, who also has the condition. He advised her to live fully and cherish each day.
If you believe in God, which I do, your time is going to be your time no matter what. So whether it’s this or something else, just live your life and treat people well and hope for the best.
Embracing her condition, Cooke sees it as a reason to focus on living purposefully. She emphasizes the unpredictability of life and aims to make the most of each day.
Despite her health challenges, Cooke continues to rise in the country music scene. She gained prominence with hits like ‘Never Til Now’ alongside Brett Young and ‘Your Place.’
Cooke is now embarking on her extensive Baby Blues World Tour, supporting her upcoming self-titled album due on August 14. The tour will span 28 cities internationally.
Cooke expressed enthusiasm for the tour, stating each city would be uniquely impactful. Performing her music, she looks forward to engaging with fans and feels this tour marks a significant chapter in her career.
