Callaway Golf Addresses Controversial Ad with Good Good
Callaway Golf has released a second statement concerning the controversial advertisement involving Good Good, acknowledging its role in approving the video. The ad featured Garrett Clark from Good Good, a popular YouTube golf channel with over 2 million subscribers, pushing Alexis Miestowski to the ground. This action, captured in the advertisement for a special edition driver, led to swift backlash and subsequent retraction.
Initially, the video showed Miestowski reaching for the driver in a golf bag. Clark responded aggressively, sprinting towards her, shoving her to the turf, and declaring, “Do not touch my new driver.” The scene was filmed during the TOUR Championship Creator Classic on August 20, 2025, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
– Good Good removed the video from their social channels and issued an apology, acknowledging that it “ultimately depicted actions that are not aligned with our values as a brand.”
– Callaway followed with a statement expressing disappointment in the content and appreciation for Good Good’s response, asserting a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment in golf.
“We are disappointed by the content that was posted, and are appreciative of Good Good for addressing this. We look forward to working together to ensure a more inclusive space in golf.”
In the early hours of Tuesday, Callaway’s CEO Chip Brewer owned up to the company’s mistake in approving the video. Brewer stated, “That approval should never have happened. Mistakes were made, and we are taking the matter very seriously.” He detailed the steps being taken to rectify the situation, including internal and external investigations.
“As soon as we recognized the seriousness of the issue, it was escalated appropriately, and the video was immediately removed. Preliminary statements were issued by both Good Good and Callaway, and now this statement has followed. We are also conducting both internal and external investigations and have already made changes to our approval processes aimed at ensuring this will never happen again.”
Callaway emphasized its dedication to diversity and inclusion within the sport. Brewer assured, “We believe we have been a positive force for diversity and inclusion in the game of golf. This video was completely inconsistent with that. I assure you that we will learn from this and do better.”
The PGA Tour also commented on the issue, reinforcing the sport’s role in promoting a welcoming environment and denouncing the video:
“The PGA Tour believes in golf’s ability to bring people together and create a welcoming environment for all,” the statement said. “We do not condone violence in any form, and the since-deleted video does not reflect our values or commitment to inclusivity and respect.”
This scrutiny from the PGA Tour is significant because Good Good sponsors the Tour’s inaugural Good Good Championship, set for November in Austin, Texas.
OutKick, which initially reported the incident, noted continued outreach to Good Good for further comments. Updates will be provided as new information emerges.
