Mackenzie Phillips has opened up about how her once extroverted lifestyle has transformed over the years. The 66-year-old actress shared on an episode of Valerie Bertinelli’s “Getting Naked” podcast that she finds her social energy quickly drains after a busy day.
“I would get home, and I would have no words left,” Phillips shared, per People. “To be able to get up and do it again the next day, I found I needed to be alone to recharge.” Phillips also revealed she has been celibate for 15 years.
Valerie Bertinelli, reflecting on similar experiences, expressed there’s nothing wrong with celibacy. Phillips noted, “I’ve had enough sex to last for several lifetimes for several people.” She emphasized self-care, highlighting her choice to not date, sharing humorously, “I have my little friend in the bedside drawer.” Bertinelli mentioned she also had periods of celibacy, with almost two years since her last intimate encounter.
Mackenzie Phillips has been married three times. Her previous marriages include music manager Jeff Sessler, guitarist Shane Fontayne, and her third husband Keith Levenson, with each ending in divorce.
“Celibacy appeared to be trending in Hollywood this summer.”
Recently, Sharon Stone revealed her own choice to remain celibate on the “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown” podcast. Stone explained how she has been single for a while as she seeks a companion, not just a casual relationship. The “Basic Instinct” star stated, “I’m in the no luck at all phase right now,” emphasizing her desire for meaningful connections.
Sharon Stone had been married to producer Michael Greenburg and journalist Phil Bronstein, reflecting on her experiences with past relationships.
The trend continues with Teri Hatcher, who told HELLO! she hasn’t dated in seven years. “Oh my god, I’m so single,” she confessed. Hatcher mentioned she goes through life with an open heart but doesn’t actively seek dating opportunities. The “Desperate Housewives” actress stressed her preference for maintaining strong friendships over pursuing romantic relationships.
In previous interviews, Teri Hatcher mentioned being mistakenly kicked off a dating app, believing it was an effort to embrace vulnerability. However, after the app flagged her profile for being fake, she lost interest in online dating platforms.
Hatcher’s previous marriages include personal trainer Marcus Liethold and actor Jon Tenney, with whom she shares a daughter.
