Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom appeared on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ with Laura Ingraham to address his ejection from the Indiana Fever-Chicago Sky game. The incident at Wintrust Arena involved a confrontation with Chicago Sky’s Natasha Cloud.
Freedom, wearing a shirt defining ‘woman’ as an ‘adult human female,’ explained his presence at the game was to support basketball and Sophie Cunningham. Cunningham has faced criticism for defending female sports.
“I actually loved the game and enjoyed the game,” Freedom told Ingraham.
The conflict started when Freedom celebrated a three-pointer by Cunningham. Cloud responded with personal insults and obscenities, which Freedom noted were inappropriate considering the presence of children in the audience.
“I’m just confused at that point,” Freedom said. “I’m here to protect women and support Sophie Cunningham.”
Despite Cloud’s aggressive behavior, Freedom was the one escorted out by security. He expressed surprise at the controversial nature of his shirt’s message.
Freedom mentioned the league’s stance on gender policies, referring to Article 13 Section 1, which states individuals identifying as women are permitted to play.
“I am a woman. I should be allowed to play,” Kanter told Ingraham.
The fallout from this incident might lead to future restrictions on Freedom’s attendance at WNBA games. This speculation was supported by former NBA player Royce White, who suggested the WNBA might attempt to avoid further scrutiny over its gender policies.
