Malik Nabers has impressed New York Giants fans during training camp with his standout performance on the field. Following an offseason filled with uncertainty about his readiness for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach John Harbaugh provided a positive update on the Giants’ 2024 first-round pick.
Harbaugh announced that “it is reasonable to assume” Nabers is set to be available for the season opener. This is promising news for the wide receiver who suffered a right ACL tear and meniscus damage in Week 4 last season.
Harbaugh said, “Probably moving the best we’ve seen him look,” referring to Nabers practicing in a regular white jersey during 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills.
Harbaugh trusts the training staff’s insights and is optimistic about Nabers’ progress. He expressed comfort with the idea of Nabers engaging in controlled contact during practices. Though not in full pads yet, Nabers has shed his red non-contact jersey, indicating a step forward in his recovery.
Nabers’ determination to return has been clear. Last week, he commented on his eagerness to get back on the field, stating, “My soul has been dead for so long.” His increasing agility and confidence have impressed both fans and coaches alike.
Though Nabers is unlikely to play in the Giants’ final preseason game against the New York Jets, he continues to demonstrate his capability in training. He and quarterback Jaxson Dart, a 2025 draft pick from Ole Miss, are eager to showcase their chemistry after limited playtime together due to Nabers’ injury.
Fans are eager to see how Nabers, who accumulated 1,204 yards in 15 games during his rookie year, will perform alongside Dart across a full 17-game season. The Giants’ first test will be against the Dallas Cowboys on September 13 at MetLife Stadium in a primetime showdown.
