Controversial Proposal for Arch Near Arlington Cemetery

The current administration plans to construct a triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery by relying on a legislative approval given 101 years ago. This historical authorization was initially meant for a different project at the same location.

On May 15, workers conducted measurements at Memorial Circle, which is now the proposed site for President Donald Trump’s planned 250-foot arch.

The administration argues that there is no need to seek new approval from Congress. They believe the project is covered by the authorization granted to a similar endeavor that was never implemented a century ago.
