President Donald Trump has rejected plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood shooter, despite Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s intention to do so. In a statement on Truth Social, Trump described Hasan as “a very bad and evil man” who will face execution by firing squad, but emphasized the event will not be streamed.
Trump stated, “Many very good and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die through streaming or any visual device. He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed.”
However, the execution may be witnessed in person by the immediate families of the victims if they choose. Hasan was responsible for the deaths of 13 individuals and wounded more than 30 in the 2009 shooting spree at Fort Hood, Texas.
Earlier, Hegseth mentioned plans to publicly display Hasan’s execution, which would be the first in decades in the U.S. This proposal faced opposition from Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and former military leaders who voiced concerns promptly.
This is a developing story, and further updates are expected.
