Far-left Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has declared his “God-given” and “constitutionally protected right” to express hatred for America during his livestream. This comes amidst criticism following an attack ad connecting Democratic Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed to Piker’s controversial statements.
During his show, Piker expressed his discontent with the American government, highlighting that his anger was directed at the government’s actions both domestically and internationally. Despite his critical tone, he defended his right to express such views. “I’m a God—- American. It is my God—- God-given and constitutionally protected right to say I hate America if America is f—ing over Americans,” Piker stated.
The ad portrays Piker’s statements like, “Bro, I hate this country, dude. I hate America,” fueling controversy among Democrats and Republicans. The political campaign of Abdul El-Sayed has felt the backlash due to Piker’s involvement, despite El-Sayed distancing himself from the streamer.
Piker, known for his blunt language, justified his choice of words as a response to America’s role in global affairs, particularly in the Middle East. He acknowledged that while the language he used was controversial, his argument was not.
Piker’s commentary has been at the center of heated debates, drawing scrutiny particularly over his past assertions related to the 9/11 attacks. Despite stepping back from some of his wording, Piker maintains his broader criticisms remain valid. The tension between his free speech defense and the backlash it invites illustrates a persistent conflict within political discussions.
Fox News Digital attempted to contact Piker for further comment on these issues.
