The Dallas Cowboys and their quarterback Dak Prescott encountered strong reactions following a loss to the previously winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Thursday Night Football.” Fans and team associates were visibly disappointed by the defeat.
A stadium employee expressed his dissatisfaction directly to Prescott post-game, describing the team’s performance as “embarrassing.” This interaction was captured on video and quickly gained attention online. Prescott later addressed the incident during his media session.
“When he said it, I just looked at him, and at that point, he looked away. When I turned my head back, he said something else. As a person, feel free to speak your mind, but don’t shy away from the reaction you might receive,” Prescott commented during his postgame remarks.
Prescott further elaborated to reporters, “If you’re saying it’s embarrassing, say it. If you’re speaking to me, say it directly. Don’t backtrack.” He added his dislike for how much attention the issue received.
The Cowboys’ loss was seen by many as embarrassing due to the team’s defeat by an opponent led by undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, in only his second NFL start. Daniels impressed with 189 yards and a touchdown pass, completing 76% of his throws, resulting in a passer rating of 110.
During the game, Prescott faced pressure from the Buccaneers’ defense. This led to hurried throws that often missed their targets or resulted in interceptions. Prescott completed 24 of 42 passes for 316 yards and one touchdown to George Pickens but also threw two interceptions in the 24-16 loss. This dropped the Cowboys to a 2-3 record.
The running game also struggled, with Javonte Williams and the Cowboys’ rushing attack limited to only 50 yards. CeeDee Lamb exited the game late due to a reported quad injury mentioned during the Amazon Prime broadcast.
The Cowboys’ chances in the NFC East remain alive, but they are currently facing challenges that require resolution. Their upcoming matchup is against the Green Bay Packers on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” on October 18, providing an opportunity to improve their record.
