Dan Levy, known for his role in “Schitt’s Creek,” criticized comedian Shane Gillis for his recent “Saturday Night Live” appearance. Levy accused Gillis of misogyny and argued that comments objectifying women contribute to a culture where sexual assault is more prevalent.
In a video posted on Instagram, Levy expressed disbelief that such content aired on national television. He called on men to oppose these remarks, stressing that complacency creates environments harmful to women. Levy stated, I’m speechless that something like that can exist on live national television.
During his third hosting of “SNL,” Gillis made jokes about women’s gym attire, suggesting it resembled provocative clothing. Levy countered by stating that such clothing does not equate to being a “whore” and argued that those making such claims display misogyny.
Levy emphasized the need for men to challenge how women are perceived, stating, This is not a women’s issue, this is an everybody issue,
and reinforced that misogynistic views shouldn’t persist.
Lisa Cusack from the Don’t L.A. My Burbank PAC provided a different take, suggesting that noticing revealing clothing does not automatically signal misogyny. She highlighted social media’s role in promoting sexualized images and argued that men’s reactions are sometimes simplistic.
Cusack further stated that modern culture’s shift away from restraint affects societal perceptions of sexuality and glamour.
Fox News reached out to NBC for comments, but neither the network nor Gillis’ team responded.
