Michael Alter, the owner of the Chicago Sky, announced that Enes Kanter Freedom is banned from Wintrust Arena following an incident with Natasha Cloud during a game against the Indiana Fever. Alter shared these comments with beat writers, indicating concerns about Freedom’s behavior.
The altercation happened in the third quarter of the game, where Cloud’s emotional response to a successful play led to a confrontation with Freedom, who was seated nearby. As tension rose, security intervened, resulting in Freedom’s ejection from the venue.
“He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat,” Alter stated, as reported by ESPN. However, specifics about how Freedom was assessed as a threat remained unclear.
Freedom, speaking to OutKick post-game, explained his actions during the game. He recounted cheering for fellow player Sophie Cunningham’s three-pointer, attributing the hostility from Cloud to his attire, a shirt defining a woman.
“I was not trying to provoke anyone; I support and protect women,” Freedom said, expressing confusion over Cloud’s reaction to his cheering and shirt message.
Alongside the verbal spar, Alter suggested that Freedom engaged in trash talking during the third quarter, which escalated the situation. „It was basketball-related banter, but enough to provoke a response from Cloud,” Alter described.
Cloud later shared a message via Threads supporting the transgender community, signaling a swipe at Freedom’s perspectives and actions during the event.
Despite backlash at the arena upon his entrance, Freedom remains determined to pursue joining the WNBA, stating his intentions to enter the draft.
Ryan Gaydos from Fox News Digital provided additional information on these proceedings.
