Ethics Complaint Filed Against Representative Lauren Boebert
The House Ethics Committee received a complaint involving Colorado U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert. The complaint accuses her of having sexual relationships with staff members. Boebert’s office dismissed these allegations, calling them politically motivated.
A spokesperson stated, “Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever.” The statement insisted the complaint aims to manipulate the ethics process and distract from critical issues.
The complaint, filed by David Wheeler, president of the Democrat Super PAC American Muckrakers, includes serious claims. It alleges Boebert engaged in sexual relationships with three staff members and paid $200,000 in hush money.
Boebert, a mother of four, recently divorced citing irreconcilable differences. She has been a prominent Republican figure and previously clashed with President Donald Trump. Her personal life faced scrutiny, especially following her son’s arrest on various charges.
Wheeler believes Boebert follows a “denial scheme.” He accuses her of criminal activity, deception, and deflection of accountability. His statement provides several accusations Boebert has denied, including affairs and drug use.
Despite her threats to sue, Wheeler sued Boebert for defamation in Colorado Federal Court. The judge found defamation occurred and stated interference with donors had merit.
Wheeler intends to provide evidence, including bank statements and communications. While the claims are unverified, he remains confident in his allegations.
Boebert disputes claims of inappropriate relationships with figures like former Representative Matt Gaetz. Gaetz humorously denied involvement in any alleged activities.
Wheeler’s legal actions against Boebert have persisted over the years. A previous lawsuit alleged Boebert made false statements about him, settled in 2024. Meanwhile, Boebert’s attempt for a protective order against Wheeler was dismissed in 2023.
The House Ethics Committee must assess the complaint’s compliance and determine any subsequent actions. Wheeler seeks an investigative subcommittee to probe the matter.
