In recent times, we’ve experienced unprecedented climate events. Years like 2026 may soon be considered mild in comparison.
On July 14, 2026, a construction worker in Minneapolis rinsed his hands amidst an extreme heat warning. Such warnings are becoming more frequent.
The Minnesota Reformer, an independent, nonprofit news organization, aims to keep residents informed about vital stories that larger outlets overlook. Journalist Satish Desai reported the scorching heat wave that affected the Eastern U.S. earlier in July.
Desai reached out to a friend in Northern England to discuss the impact. England was also swept by a heat dome, affecting much of Europe.
Notably, the hottest day ever recorded in the U.K. occurred just before Desai’s message, only to be surpassed twice shortly afterward.
