A heartwarming incident took place on a United Airlines flight when a flight attendant, Monique Harris, took quick action to assist an exhausted mother whose baby began to slip from her lap. Harris’s timely intervention occurred during United flight 3486 from Newark, New Jersey, to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Passenger John Frehse shared the incident on Instagram, commending Harris’s swift response.
Frehse recalled that the mother had fallen asleep, and her baby was on the verge of slipping. Harris acted promptly and caught the child, then reassured the mother that she could go back to sleep while Harris looked after the baby. This thoughtful gesture allowed the mother to get some rest.
Frehse, who has flown over 2 million miles with United, praised Harris as an exemplary employee in his post, tagging United CEO Scott Kirby to highlight the commendable conduct. He expressed his admiration for Harris and urged the airline to take note of her excellent service.
Monique Harris responded to the public appreciation with an emotional comment, expressing surprise at the impact of what she considered her ‘normal’ behavior. She appreciated the positive feedback from Frehse and others who recognized the touching interaction.
United Airlines and Republic Airways, the latter operating flights for United and other airlines, lauded Harris. Republic Airways characterized her as an extraordinary colleague, while United Airlines expressed pride in having her as part of the team. The airline responded to the social media post with enthusiasm, emphasizing the positive nature of the story.
