Former Congressional Candidate Arrested in Alleged Knife Incident

A former congressional candidate from Arizona, Brianna Westbrook, was detained after a confrontation involving a knife and tape. Court documents reveal that Westbrook, who is a transgender rights activist and former vice chair of the Arizona Democratic Party, allegedly forced entry into an ex-partner’s home. The incident occurred on July 10 when Phoenix police received a distress call at 6 p.m.

The report states that Westbrook’s ex-partner opened the door thinking her son was there. Instead, she encountered Westbrook wielding a knife and holding black tape. A struggle ensued, leading Westbrook to push the woman onto a couch, instructing her not to move. The woman’s screams alerted her sister, who then entered the room.

“Westbrook made a lunging motion with a knife toward the two women,” the court documents detail, and upon hearing that the woman’s son might soon arrive, Westbrook fled the scene.

When police later found Westbrook, she claimed the episode was a misunderstanding related to a consensual BDSM scene previously discussed via subliminal messages on Instagram. Westbrook said these messages indicated readiness to re-enact a scene that was meant to address past childhood trauma, but the alleged victim denied ever consenting to such plans.

Westbrook admitted to going to the residence with the intention to scare, but insisted the knife was fake. The alleged victim maintained she had not agreed to any re-creation of a BDSM scene.

Subsequently, Westbrook faced charges of felony third-degree burglary, aggravated assault with a simulated deadly weapon, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Police records also noted a history of domestic violence associated with Westbrook, with incidents reportedly escalating in frequency and intensity.

A preliminary court hearing for Westbrook is scheduled for the following Monday. Westbrook could not be reached for further comments on the matter.
