Former LSU Football Star Demetrius Byrd Arrested in Miami

Demetrius Byrd, a former wide receiver for LSU, has been arrested in Miami for allegedly posing a threat on a bus. Reports indicate that Byrd engaged in a heated argument with a passenger and brandished a blade. According to the arrest report, Byrd asked the passenger, “Who wants to die?”

The incident reportedly involved Byrd shouting at other passengers. Attempts by the involved passenger to calm him down were unsuccessful, leading to Byrd allegedly pulling out the blade. Byrd now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and he is being held on a $5,000 bond. Additionally, Byrd has an outstanding domestic violence warrant.

Byrd garnered fame for his game-winning catch against Auburn in 2007, securing a 22-yard score that led LSU to a national championship. Despite being a promising NFL prospect, he suffered severe injuries in a car accident just before the draft, resulting in his fall to the seventh round after initially being in critical condition. Byrd was drafted by the San Diego Chargers but did not play in any games.

Throughout his college career, Byrd played 27 games with the LSU Tigers, catching 72 passes for 1,134 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.
