Julia Wilson’s Perspective
Julia Wilson, who survived the 2009 Fort Hood mass shooting, recently shared her views on the upcoming execution of the shooter, Nidal Hasan. As a former civilian employee of the Defense Department, she has voiced concerns about publicly broadcasting Hasan’s execution.
During a discussion, Wilson recalled the tragedy, emphasizing the emotional toll it took on survivors. While she firmly believes Hasan’s actions warrant the death penalty, she argues against a live stream of the execution.
“The execution should be carried out 13 times over, but not for the public to view,” Wilson stated.
Her sentiments highlight the sensitive nature of capital punishment and its impact on trauma survivors.
