Twitch Streamer Hasan Piker Discusses Wealth and Politics

Hasan Piker, a prominent Twitch streamer known for his far-left views, recently addressed questions about his $2.7 million home and Oscar party experiences. During a podcast with comedian Ziwe, Piker admitted he aspired to be a ‘champagne socialist.’

Piker joined comedian Ziwe on her YouTube channel, where she is known for her satirical interviews with celebrities. She asked if he ever wanted to be a ‘champagne socialist.’ Piker replied affirmatively.

Ziwe inquired about a previous quote from Piker, suggesting social unrest against capitalism, and asked about his time at Oscar parties. Piker described the experience as unusual, noting the presence of Jeff Bezos, whom he found shorter than expected. He mentioned his enjoyment in meeting an actor from ‘Heated Rivalry.’

At Vanity Fair’s Oscar party, Piker recounted a brief encounter with Bezos. Recognizing Bezos as his indirect boss due to Twitch’s ownership by Amazon, Piker expressed a desire to avoid his attention.

Ziwe also addressed Piker’s $2.7 million house, questioning the disparity with Karl Marx’s philosophy. Piker acknowledged his mortgage, clarifying he didn’t purchase the home in cash, countering misconceptions about his wealth.

On Piker’s approach to profiting from progressive politics, he explained his cooperative corporation model, emphasizing equal say and pay. Piker highlighted his efforts to maintain ethical standards, such as using union-made, American-made garments for merchandise.

Christian Toto, editor of Hollywood In Toto, commented on the interview, noting Ziwe’s platform choice was surprising due to Piker’s controversial reputation. Toto argued Ziwe effectively highlighted Piker’s wealth-related contradictions, unlike many journalists.

Piker, active in political advocacy, has supported Democrats in recent campaigns and shared controversial views in media appearances. In an Axios interview, he controversially compared the U.S. to al-Qaeda in terms of global impact.
