Frank Siller, CEO and Chairman of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, presents his new memoir, Let Us Do Good. This book is a tribute to his brother, Stephen Siller, a firefighter who died during the 9/11 attacks. Frank shares Stephen’s brave journey through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, highlighting the foundation’s mission to aid injured veterans and support families of first responders.
The Steel Beam Tour
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is conducting a nationwide tour with a steel beam recovered from the South Tower of the World Trade Center. As the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches, this tour aims to provide communities across America with a tangible connection to Ground Zero. The 21-foot, 16,900-pound beam is traveling over 10,500 miles, stopping in more than 20 states to serve as a memorial to the attack’s victims and the brave first responders.
Frank Siller emphasized the importance of remembering 9/11, stating, “This tour ensures every generation can remember and understand what happened 25 years ago.” Local officials, first responders, and foundation members attend these events at various tour stops.
Honoring the Fallen
The organization, founded in honor of Stephen Siller, is dedicated to ensuring the memory of those lost on 9/11. Starting in Lower Manhattan, the beam’s journey includes notable stops in California, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and Texas, culminating at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It will also be seen at museums, town squares, sports events, and the White House. The beam will return to Ground Zero on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
One poignant stop was Emma E. Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida. It was here that President George W. Bush learned of the attacks while reading to students on September 11, 2001. Andy Card, the former White House chief of staff who informed Bush of the events, participated in the school’s celebration of the beam’s tour.
Supporting Families and Veterans
Tunnel to Towers provides mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen service members and first responders. The foundation also focuses efforts on addressing veteran homelessness. This year, they are delivering 343 mortgage-free homes to honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished on 9/11.
