Grayson Waller Claims the NXT Championship at Heatwave

Heatwave Showdown

Tony D’Angelo faced his biggest challenge at Heatwave, defending the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. Each contender was eager to seize the top spot in the men’s division. Fatu was marking his singles debut, Montana was transitioning from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, aiming for a significant impact, and Waller was striving to reclaim his position at the top.

The match was intense, with competitors refusing to stay down. Fatu achieved a flying Samoan Spike on D’Angelo, almost securing a pinfall until Waller intervened by pulling the referee out of the ring.

Key Moments in the Match

Fatu ended up lying on the announcer table after a hard-fought exchange with D’Angelo and Montana. Waller, recognizing an opportunity, climbed to the top turnbuckle and executed a decisive elbow drop on Fatu, sending both crashing through the announcer table.

The battle in the ring continued with D’Angelo and Montana. Montana hit the Spin the Block on D’Angelo, but Waller quickly returned, throwing Montana out of the ring and securing a pinfall victory over D’Angelo.

Waller’s Triumph

Waller’s victory awarded him the NXT Championship, marking his first title reign despite his history with the brand, including winning the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge in 2022. Sunday night signified his rise to prominence in NXT.

Waller’s successful return to NXT TV demonstrates his ability to match his words with performance in the ring.
